The Hyper-Reality of where I live.

Just the average sights in Huntington Beach...
Teenage Smokers abound in the coastal town and around the pier.
This woman sings on the pier almost every day. Just sings and bangs sticks. Always smiling.
Coral Williams (Captain Soncho's sister!) modeled for me for the new issue of Kid's Wear magazine.
Cuddling on the pier.

Hi-Ya fishes! This guy was fishing with throwing stars when I first walked by.

I must have hundreds of photos of this guy.

Damn. I got nothing on that contest. I was out shooting film yesterday and shot some Toy sock pics. oh well. will post anyway. Congrats to the lucky dudes. There are some good ones, I really like the dudes photo that stuck the Turtle Boy sock in his Wife/GF's buttcrack. His wife should get some props too.

I'm up late on the interenet since I heard Animal Collectives new album has been released. can't find a reliable download. dang. And people have taken down their full Pitchfork performance off of youtube. eh.

Vans Skatepark.I read an article yesterday about how Vans is going to release more tech running shoes. yeah, looks like traditional skate shoe sales have been slipping. people are tired of the Vans silhouette that has cast it's shadow over pretty much every skate shoe company in recent years. People seem to be popping boners over Cupsole shoes too.

Soncho has a sister?

A serious kid's fashion mag. I think that's kinda cool.

Ugh. I'm tired. I'll be back later. Goodnight.

Vans is huge now. They just put a Vans store in my local mall.

My Zumiez is the worst too, they only had two toy boards and they were the one's with the big sect eye.

Globe makes some ugly shoes. If they're not pro models they're probably not that cool.

There's a lot of cool sock pics on Insta! Good idea with the contest. It's just putting Toy socks on the map even more! I love it!

hey all fellow commenter's. I've been reading all the comments on the last few posts from before I went on my camping trip. Good to be home and back on this blog again, I missed it. So many beautiful pictures in the last posts, i really like the teenage smoker in this one. I am so tired, I just came home from a 27 hour drive from Lofoten which is above the polar circle. I guess skaters is used to long drives on trips. It sure can be exhausting. When I was up there I camped on a beach where surfers ride the cold waves. The water is about 30 degrees Fahrenheit so they use dry-suits. I asked if they were cold and they told me that with the suit they were as warm as if they were surfing in Hawaii. Weird, and cool. I shot some photos of them but I only brought my 18-105 mm lens and it just didn't do the job. I read an article about a couple of norwegian surfers that lived on a beach up there for a whole year just to surf. They started to notice a lot of garbage being exposed in the sand and coming in with the waves so they started collecting it to clean up. In that year the two of them gathered over three tons of garbage on that one beach! imagine all the garbage littering the sea. Garbage island. check out the pictures in this article if you want. (some of them have low quality, I don't know why).

Woah cool Article! I wonder how or why the sky looks green?? Like Northern lights?

I want to surf.

Wow. that's pretty cool to see what a difference two people can make. Inspiring shit for all the people that shrug it off as what difference can one person make since everybody else is polluting anyway. Apathy. We're all victims of it. Procrastination too. Like I should shower right now.

The image is only 320X180p. Just enlarged super big. website fail.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on July 7th, 2012 at 10:53AM PST
yes it's northern lights Josiah. I've never seen them very strong. They can rarely be seen in the part of the country where I live, but I have seen some very faint ones. You can only see them in the winter so I guess I have to go back up north sometime in the winter. It looks pretty magical.

I agree Jgonzalez, I was quite shocked to read what a big amount of trash washed up on one single beach. Their project was very cool. They said they had the time of their lives. The cabin they made was also made by wood and trash they found there. They only ate food that food stores had thrown away so they basically didn't pollute for one year. They even made the world cleaner. And it was all cost free for them! I wish I had the strength of will to do something so bold as that.

Do you guys follow Geoff Rowley on instagram? He keeps posting pictures of his lion hunts and yesterday he posted a picture of a lions head. I don't understand that macho hunting thing he's doing. The picture disgusted me. He killed it for no apparent reason other than for sport. And what the hell is "sacred hunting"? I always looked up to him since I got the first Tony hawk Pro skater
Posted By: emilie on July 7th, 2012 at 02:58PM PST
thanks for the picture Josiah haha.

I don\'t get Geoff hunting, isn\'t he vegan, or vegetarian? I know this has been brought up before, I just don\'t remember exactly the answer as to why. I know Ed answered someone about it.

Just googled real quick and found this:

Geoff Rowley Interesting Facts:

Neither of Rowley\'s parents have ever seen him skate, and he plans on keeping it that way. He also loves to hunt, and read about hunting, though he says he prefers to photograph animals instead of killing them. He started hunting when he was 15 years old.

Don\'t know how accurate that is, but I hope he likes photographing them more than killing them...

Also, read this first page for a laugh. I was about to scream at the computer haha

Wow. Living off of what a grocery store throws away? that's super cool. At the store I work at so much stuff is thrown away. But hooking the food up with people that need it or want it is a job itself. The convenience of a dumpster. It bums me out. Easier to pay somebody to remove your problem and dump it somewhere else in the world. Really sweeping it under god's rug.

If my skate nerd dom serves me correct,Rowley Vegan for a while. Then that faded and now he has leather pro shoes. Not sure if he eats it, and yep, he hunts now or something. That tiger might be his homies, at a store, or he bought it and just thinks it's cool. Taxidermy, I think we're coming to a consensus it's not a hobbie we share here on this comment board.

LOL. that's a weird forum. and it's still active. Slap, Thrasher, Skateboard City, and there's this other one that Garret Hill was on.

Switch inward heel
Posted By: Jgonzalez on July 7th, 2012 at 11:01PM PST
Geoff is no longer vegan. It's been years now. And he hunts/kills animals. Mike V is not vegan, nor is Jamie Thomas. If his shoes are vegan, it is just a coincidence.
Posted By: ed on July 8th, 2012 at 12:23AM PST
thanks for clearing that up Ed. I was confused.

Soncho\'s sister is hot!!
Posted By: ll on July 8th, 2012 at 05:47PM PST
ha. 11 fucked up the captcha and even retried to tell us Soncho has a hot sister.

Thanks for the info. Dang. It would be funny if Kalis was randomly and still is Vegan. A time when Mike V wore Morrissey tees and was vegan. sigh. Elephant Brand skateboards is pretty sick though

Ewwwww that fashion pic is so ridiculously funny.

I was on ebay one time and this guy was selling Rowley\'s old vx1000 setup. It had a little Flip sticker on the lens cap to authenticate

Forum\'s are kinda cool. You get to find out what\'s happening or not happening right now!

You should INstagram this Jgonz. Start a new hashtag...
Posted By: ed on July 9th, 2012 at 01:12AM PST
I wouldn't even know what hashtag would fit that. So much shit going on. Supras. 70's gym shorts. Guido ass chains. Girls mesh goalie top. Snapback. Durag?

Yes I did notice my self esteem have been declining since I started frequently commenting
Posted By: emilie on July 9th, 2012 at 01:49PM PST
I knew you'd notice that Mike V. was wearing that shirt in the two man demo video JGonz haha. It was a pretty cool shirt actually.

That demo did look awkward as hell, Mike V. punched his board. That was awesome ahah.

My self esteem is down the tubes ever since I joined instagram.....nobody likes me! hahaha
Posted By: Mike on July 9th, 2012 at 08:48PM PST
Hmmmm No comment on the social media thingy. I'm depressed either way. Commenting on here is fun though, it's addicting to talk to people who share the same interest's. The best part about it is that Ed actually cares and listens, responds to us.

I don't do Twitter anymore. Facebook is kinda lame now. Instagram is the new,"new"!

So I wonder if that Blake Carpenter kid is gonna get on Toy??
Posted By: Josiah on July 9th, 2012 at 08:52PM PST
As far as the Hashtags go it should be #reasonsnottoskateboard or #dontdoit or #ugly haha
Posted By: Josiah on July 9th, 2012 at 08:54PM PST
I think your cool, Mike! Don't worry about how many likes you get. I should practice what I preach but I try not to beat myself up if no one likes me.
Posted By: Josiah on July 9th, 2012 at 08:55PM PST
I was really just joking around. But as much as I don't want to admit, I do find myself checking instagram all the time for "likes" and shit. I think the fact that I really want to see "likes" and comments bums me out more than not getting them. Because I know that I'm just seeking attention or some shit, and that just isn't me, that bums me out. But whatever. Try not to get too real on here. Sorry everyone haha

the hashtag should be #fuckfashion or #mainstreamskatestyle or something else lame from my head or yours
