Glasgow, Scotland - Mega-Post

Here is my last post of Glasgow photos from our trip in mid-April, scanned from the proof sheet for your lo-fi pleasure.
"The road to success runs uphill." -Willie Davis
Glasgow was kind to us, and we are looking forward to going back. The people at Mono, and Good Press were very cool.
"A person who has not done one half his day's work by ten o clock, runs a chance of leaving the other half undone." -Emily Bronte
They hate Billy Marks there.
A police box by the Cathedral (which closed before we got there.)
This young man Rory Price stopped me on the street and invited Deanna and me to his studio (a 15 minute walk away) at the Glasgow School of Art. So we went for it.
"In Royal Exchange Square outside the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art and forming an end to Ingram Street is an equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington by Italian artist Carlo Marochetti, erected in 1844. Capping the statue with a traffic cone has become a traditional practice in the city, claimed to represent the humour of the local population and believed to date back to the first half of the 1980s if not before. The statue is a Category-A listed monument and due to minor damage and the potential for injury that the placing of cones involves, the practice has been discouraged by Glasgow City Council and Strathclyde Police in recent years." -Wikipedia
Rory again...
Teen Smoker (Sorry I forgot your name man!) in front of Focus Skateshop.
"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation and is but a reflection of human frailty." -Albert Einstein
"A city that outdistances man's walking powers is a trap for man." -Arnold J. Toynbee
"A lie can be halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on." -James Callaghan
Some skaters who were shredding the park before the rain ruined the sesh.
Hogwarts, er, Glasgow University.
"A fool's brain digests philosophy into folly, science into superstition, and art into pedantry. Hence University education." -George Bernard Shaw
The Kelvingrove...
"Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense." -Gertrude Stein
"Oh, how precious is time, and how it pains me to see it slide away, while I do so little to any good purpose." -David Brainerd

The road to stiffness runs uphill.

Einstein would listen to Dubstep.

The term "secondhand smoke" makes me think of those stub collecters
during and after the second world war. They got seconhand smokes.
Traded them for other goods like foodstamps or whatever was available.

Midget police station.
Or does the police have their own comfort stations?

Tepee has a stoma.

Yesterday and for the first time someone died I didn´t knew and it really touched me.I was driving the autobahn, when I heard it on the news.
Thanks to my older cousin I started listening to the Beastie Boys when License to ill came out and I was ten.Thats´25 years ago.
Luckily I saw them some years ago and although I don´t listen to them
that often anymore, they were a big part of my youth and I´ll always appreciated them. They kinda were the beatles of my generation.
It´s a tragedy.

he police box looks really cool (or funny I guess). Those three skaters in the last photo have interesting faces. That playground thing makes me think of a turd. That teenage smoker portrait is really good! I would add that to the show if I were you Ed. The boy looks so sincere and incredibly nice.

Im reading a book by Jon Krakauer right now, its called into thin air. Its his telling of a tragic ascent to Mount Everest where seven og eight people died in one day. I am completely spellbound by this book. Ive had it for a while but I decided to make time to read it now (my exam is lurking close) because a guy from my home town (I don\\\'t really know him) is trying to climb Everest right now. I am following him on facebook where he posts updates from his adventure. Its pretty exiting.

Adam Yauch was definitly a huge influence on me as a kid. My brother had a couple of albums (he is 6 years older than me). I remember I used to listen to three albums that were available in the house; 1. Lion king soundtrack 2. Beastie Boys Ill communication and 3. Offspring smashed ...and oh this album by Bad Religion that I really liked. It made me very sad to hear that he died. That last interview with him talking about having cancer, but firmly believing (and reassuring his fans) that he will be fully recovered left me with tearfull eyes. 4 of my closest friends all lost their fathers from cancer at a young age. Its a horrible disease that strike so many people its gut wrenching.

Dirty Billy. What's he been up to? haven't seen him on the blogorama lately.

I don't understand that police thing. Must be an ATM. So they can take your money without beating you. jk. Is it like a phone or pager?

That's cool you followed a random artist into his cave. then googled his name and found his shit. Totally using the internet like a pro.

Teenage smoker photo rules. His eyes look like they're melting and he has some David Gonzalez going on in his face. Beanie, Indy shirt, Long hair. Traits of a skateboarder.

Followed by the instagram looking photo. is that a diss? the photo is like cut in three. Society is a peace of crap. Which piece of the ven diagram is the bird in.

Fly honies. Thick gurrrls. ed, you still aren't giving them my number. or like "hey, check out @jgonz,k?k." jk.
Cute girls. around the world. shit don't stop. Testosterone is guiding my fingers across my keyboard.

Emilie is going to be the first TMSTEACHER
jk. i'll stop now.

I wonder how many kids like totally loved harry potter and fantasized about going to hogwarts since their lives at home sucked. so when age 10 rolled around they didn't get that letter or like hundreds of letters. and your slimchance of escaping bullshit is gone. O. hay. hogworts izzint reel kid. Get a girl pregnant and get a min wage job. make another you. make that viciuos cycle gnarly, buy a skateboard. duh.

the other day I watched that movie when Rodney Dangerfield went to college. it was good.

Fuck. I don't know how much information that guy is getting off that shit phone. Y cant I get instagram??!

that slide. hardcore.

Ha. Yeah. The skater shots are awesome. Skaters of the world, unite. Skater kids and Teenage smoker, another skater kid though. Why I come here.

Sorry guys. the only Beastie Boys song I can think of is Brass Monkey. I'm not a fan or anything. But respect to that dude.

smoking stunts your ability to give people the impression that you're looking at them, I guess.

And damn. my facebook friends are sleepin. I don't really see TV or most normal information sources these days so here is the first I've heard of Adam. its unfortunate news. Rest in Beast Adam
