Catalina in late November?

On November 27th Deanna and I went to Catalina Island on a whim. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving. The weather was the mildest it's been all year, and the sea was as calm as I've ever seen it.

The Pacific was so flat it felt like the boat was driving on asphalt.

Avalon Harbor is empty. No boats at all! The docks are mostly pulled up from the pier, the rental boats are stored away, the children's float is gone, it's eerie to see it void of water craft.

My Fave, Joe's Rent-a-boat is closed for the winter.

We were craving to be on the calm water. At Descanso Beach we rented kayaks, and you won't believe me, because we have absolutely no photo documentation to prove it, but we sat still in our kayaks as a pod of over 100 dolphin came barreling at us, diving under or going around us at the last minute. It was quite extraordinary. The sound was incredible. They were followed by dozens of Sea Lions who were chasing the dolphins who were chasing schools of fish. Popping their heads up in curiosity. And later we sat and watched as hundreds of Cormorants took off with a flapping and clapping sound that also was such a sonic treat to see and hear. We felt like film-makers of one of those nature shows, like Oceans. We feel very fortunate.

Suuure Ed Templeton, suuure. Just kidding...

Did you guys hear about the 1000+ birds who died trying to land in a blue Wal-Mart parking lot? They mistook it for water.

Who´s smarter a bird or an IPad2?
Sorry, watch to many episodes of Charlie Brooker.

You guys seen "Black Mirror"?.
It´s freaking fantastic.

Some british princess gets kidnapped and all the prime minister
has to do to save her is to fuck a pig live on public television.
Brilliant.

I wish I could just escape this New England purgatory and be in one of Earth's enjoyment zones too.

I'm down with black sect socks

Catalina!
Great Disney post as well.
So great to just walk on all the rides.
Deanna's face of terror is so great.
Never, ever go for full ear bleed with JMascis at the helm.
Big mistake. I'm deaf from his cassettes, never mind the Marshall stack.

I'm trying to post this bigass comment. keeps saying it was spam.

I keep saying "target, Wal mart" maybe I'm saying those words too much and am getting filtered out.

I\\\'ve come to realize the people that shop at wal Mary end up dooming themselves. Sub par products that you\\\'ll end up buying again soon. Plus made in china by people that hate their lives.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on December 15th, 2011 at 11:10PM PST
I usually shop local. Thrift stores, record store, and skate shop. And Amazon/Target is as corporate as I go. The only bright side to having a wal Mart is a funny place to take photos and our shriveling mall might get more businesses. The only place I like at the mall is Ross too. Pants and cheap skate shoes pretty much. But I\\\'ve been Thrifting more for pants and shoes too since I don\\\'t shred through pairs like I used to. anyway. Wal Mart won\\\'t even compete with what I choose as a consumer.
Anyway

A local news station here has a Facebook page and they\\\'ve been asking people their opinion. The people that rationalize a Wal mart are usually people that don\\\'t seem to think progressively(conservative, religious, etc. I lurk their profiles) and are also lured by the \\\"low prices\\\". I mean. Some people are very 2 dimensional and don\\\'t give what they buy much thought.

On top of that. I had an experience the other day. In Redding there Was a Wal mart and Target across the street from each other. We perused the wal mart first. And I checked out everything and all the products are totally cheap and whatever. Plus it\\\'s like cattle in there. Went next door to the target. Their product selection is better. And we already have a target locally. Which is closer to my house. I feel like the biggest loser in this will most likely be the local KMart.

Bottom line. I don't need Wal Mart
And I feel bad for whoever gets a job there.
And the crowds of people. Barf

Ok. it went through.

Sweet pocket tee. Reppin' your shit.
Does it have a big back logo? Skater style.

Ha. It's funny that's winter. Well, i'm sure it's still chilly. and not a lot of sunshine during the day.

I believe everything you type here. don't worry.
Is Kayaking easy? My friend wants me to go with her. i'm not sure. then again, the water here isn't as beautiful. plus it's freezing balls.
I saw this Jelly floating in the bay, that shit was scary as fuck.

haha. Carrying choco cookies with you.

There aren't any Punk legends in this post man. wtf.
jk.

I haven't seen Black Mirror. but with this internet, I have no fucking excuse for googling it and watching it right fucking now.

I feel like i've been reading a lot of crazy ass articles from the Daily Mail.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on December 15th, 2011 at 11:19PM PST
Just don't buy stuff there. That is all you can control. Take your dollars out of that situation.
Posted By: ed on December 15th, 2011 at 11:22PM PST
Joe´s Rent a boat pocket T.Nice.

We had WMart over here too.
But they couldn´t compete with our chains
so they left the german market some years ago with a loss of 3 billion Euro!

@ Jgonz Go watch Black Mirror, you won´t regret wasting some time.
The second episode called "15 million merrits" isn´t bad either.
Then watch "How TV ruined your life" also from Charlie Brooker.
His Episode about Love is funny , sad and true.I´d say.

btw.
Is it possible to send postcards with nude images to the US?
Or will they get confiscated at the post office?
Posted By: S on December 16th, 2011 at 02:09AM PST
I think there was a court case about sending porno through the mail a long ass time ago. I think the outcome was: yes you can...or something like that. I wish I knew for sure.
Posted By: Robert on December 16th, 2011 at 08:24AM PST
I don´t necessarily mean porn.
No penetration or cumshots or close ups of genitals or men
getting it on with sheeps or women penetrating themselves with household items or ....you know.

Just nudity. Is it already porn in the U.S. of A.?

But thanks for your info.
Posted By: S on December 16th, 2011 at 08:54AM PST
I think it's OK. Nudity, not porn to send.
Posted By: ed on December 16th, 2011 at 09:42AM PST
hahah.
I was wondering what it would take for a Wal Mart to fail locally.

That gives me hope.

Ha. I'm sure at this point the US post office would send porn christmas cards. they need the money.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on December 16th, 2011 at 10:16AM PST
JGonz, If NOBODY shops there. They will go away.
Posted By: ed on December 16th, 2011 at 12:01PM PST
Haha I think the court case involved porn. So maybe the outcome was no.
