Weekender's Vision

Some things to look at when you find yourself drifting through a digital make-believe world that only has little to do with the real one, in that it only represents the past, and offers tales of the future, but still never compares to the real one and only offers ideas for/of your actual life.
Huntington Beach, California. Southwestern North America. Early October heat wave.

Again looking south.
A different day, same photo. Each time I see this scene I am inspired to take a photo. Sometimes to send to my friends in Europe where the weather is already shitty. What a dick I am. I shouldn't ever do that again. When you grow up in this region of the USA it's easy to take it for granted. Until the sun goes out.
No better than the pervs with the long lenses. Saw a guy with two huuuuuuge long lens cameras lurking on the pier that day, and there were two teenage boys standing next to him checking out his gear. Actual conversation overheard: "Whoa, you got the stalker lenses, pretty cool!" The guy with the stalker lenses didn't say anything.

Matt B comes to peep the video, and gets inspired to go out and break-off a better "Last Trick."
Daniel is also inspired and just to-day broke himself off a mega-last-trick. Be warned that the Brainwashing will be total. Hi-Fives all around.

Get well soon Collin!

it always amazes me how "last minute" some of the tricks are. it's like holy fucking shit- we're on the last stretch of filming and the video is literally coming out in 18 days and it's like "yeah, man, I just don't feel that last trick. let me get out and do another". wow.

reminds me when I have a piece I'm doing for printmaking or when I'm nearly finished with a painting and it's like "yeah, one last touch up here and there" and before I know it I have made a huge alteration to the whole piece at the eleventh hour.

so cool to see this. agree with josiah.

Awesome post Ed. Bros, babes, and brainwashing. Will you have a part in the video?

People that browse the internet tend to be more intelligent. According to my Psych book. But also more prone to being a Depressed person:

Quit listening to the Smiths and browsing the internet.

You didn't run into devinbriggs.com and Human-Swine? Those guys lurk hard over there, or at least somewhere that looks similar.

Nice job on getting poetic about the internet.
The internet= 8% Facebook, 43%Toy Machine.com, 1% Tumblr/twobitrooks.blogspot.com, 99% Pr0n and Boobs.

I've only commented about the first five photos, I'll continue later. I'm gonna go to the store right now,BRB.

Part 2:
Ok,cool nobody else commented.

So,um, Stalker lens. Where can I buy one? It would take my blog to a whole new level.

Did somebody steal the Bicycle and left the wheel? You\'re supposed to put the lock around the frame, and have two locks. herp derp.

Yep, that\'s weird. The whole \"Video out in less than a month, but filming more tricks\" thing. Whatever,it\'s cool.

Kevin doesn\'t have loads of Skate posters in his bedroom? Or does that shit turn of girls when he brings them to his Krib.

Here\'s a Link for Kevin to read:

Is that D-Lu\'s bro in the background?

Yay, we\'ve seen 2 frames from the video for free. Now we have to pay our Money to get the other 574527093 frames of Gnar.

Hey Ed, I just got back from the bookstore and I picked up the newest thrasher where the dude is going up the rail. . . I was hoping to read something about how he did it. If you have seen the cover you will know what I'm talking about. anyhow- there was nothing in there about the cover shot but Dan Lu got fucking awesome doing a bs lip to shuv out in a sequence and layton is getting lots of photos I see.

anyhow- there was a thing in the "tweet tweet" (usually it's called something else but I'm too lazy to get my other magazine right now) where you say "It's all water under the bridge. He still owes me $10,000 for things he sold and snorted." Who and what are you talking about? It was interesting to me for some reason because I was reading about how Grosso is off Black Label and how I just heard all this gnarly shit about how he would steal so much and was this huge meth head for awhile and for some reason connected that to what you got quoted as saying.

anyhow- today was uneventful. my ankle is still bumming me out. I can cruise but I can't really skate like I want to. I walked around and the fall leaves look awesome up here. Maybe I'll take some pics on my shitty camera phone.
Posted By: d1ggitydan on October 10th, 2010 at 05:15PM PST
but yeah- if you are skimming these comments that would be cool if you could explain that.

and I did a little research here and found out Jeff grosso is now on Anti Hero via the DLXS site
Posted By: d1ggitydan on October 10th, 2010 at 05:59PM PST
dan,I think he went up that bump that's like all the way on the right. If this is the cover you're talking about.

My Thrasher subscription ran out,so I won't get to see any photos of that Peabody dude dressed like a Redneck. I dunno if he's being Ironic or something.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on October 10th, 2010 at 06:56PM PST
YEah, you see this is a double kink with no stairs, so he launched up the first bump and euro-gapped up the rail.
The quote in Thrasher was said in confidence, so I'm bummed it's in there. Secrets.

A recent email:
How dare you make me contact your art studio director, for he does not have the likes to treat with a loyal pawn such as I. You shall be pleased to learn that you will be on the ballot for mayor of Joliet, Illinois for this upcoming November election. My self and a few elite local TOYMACHINE extremist insurgents have helped to secure the necessary 185 signatures from registered voters required to be placed on the ballot. We have complete confidence you will win by a land slide, and alas the TOYMACHINE global political take over can swiftly begin. The proud citizens of Joliet shall be honored to call you their exalted leader. (or they will be disposed of)
All hail... Mayor Templeton... KILL HIM WHEN YOU SEE HIM.

A proud indentured servant of the bloodsucking corporate giant that is TOYMACHINE,
Reverend Brandon A. Barrera. - TOYMACHINE the religion.

Ever thought you'd be the mayor in Illinois?

Mandated purchase of Toy machine stuff and mandatory Art gallery visiting, not joking anymore.
Erect a satue of Morrissey for me, mayor.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on October 10th, 2010 at 09:47PM PST
oh my god this is fucking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you prosperous success!!!
HAHA Who is that on the cover of thrasher anyway??
He looks like a douche.
Jgonz did you ever go skate or meet Grant???
I just remember reading a post about Ed telling you to go meet him at the skatepark.I think thats awesome!
Posted By: josiah on October 10th, 2010 at 10:57PM PST
I don´t think that you need to become a politician to make a positive change,I don´t know anything about the mayor of Illinois, but isn´t this blog prove enough that an Ed Templeton has a better connection and bigger influence on youth then the mayor propably does.Although this worshiping
makes me feel a little gay ( not neccesarily in a bad way).

haha ur a funny S van.

check out my gear4ayear entry. Its kinda cool.I hope yall dig it!

When I saw that Cover, I thought that´s some tow-in move, like Kirchart with the motorbike. But even then it will take some pop and strength to get up that thing. When I saw Stay Gold I couldn´t believe how "easy" and slow going it actually looks. Leo´s part with the sound and editing is like "Going the distance" it´s just a part to start your day right with.

How´s everybody?
Posted By: S van Oversea on October 11th, 2010 at 12:14AM PST
Thanks Josiah,
your comments are very eloquent and funny too.

Is that some "send your part to get stuff" competition?
(well the title actually says it, right?)

I´m not active enough anymore to judge your skills,
but from my experiences with other things, it´s always
good to be outgoing with the things you care and are
ambitious about, even the gear is a motivation, too.

Speaking about self promtion and internet narcism.
I finally have to announce that I do have a blog, too.

Everyone´s invited.Ed.

Ed, do you know Helge Tscharn, the photographer?
I met him recently and he seemed like a really mellow, nice guy
and was very important for skateboarding and it´s photography
over here in europe. He seemed a bit shocked that someone
recognized him, even more as the skateboard photographer.

Okay, so here's my question. Maybe it's stupid. If so feel free to answer stupidly, but Dan-Lu's quote got me thinking. When "Brain Wash" was announced it was going to be a shorter promo, but has it now graduated to a full length video?
Posted By: Sean on October 11th, 2010 at 05:58AM PST
California looks so nice. That mayor deal sounds insane haha. Wish you the best with that one. Anybody got any good music recommendations? I feel like I'm listening to the same things over and over again

@ S van yea its a contest.Its kinda random.
@ mike Well Listen to Type O Negative. If your in a depressed mood or happy.OR maybe Crystal Castles.

S van, YEs I know Helge from my days coming to Germany for the Munster Contests... Very cool guy.
Posted By: ed on October 11th, 2010 at 10:51AM PST
There are 4 full parts. The rest are 1 minute parts.
Leo, Collin, Daniel, and Jordan have full parts. It was going to be a promo, but now it's too good to be 'just a promo' - its the best promo ever.
Posted By: ed on October 11th, 2010 at 10:54AM PST
this was a nice post. good commenting, too.

i was reading a german skate mag the other day and there was a Stay Gold ad entitled "Ed Templeton's Cul de Sac of Awesomeness!" And it was referring to some prize package you could win. But I realized that this blog is, unofficially, entitled "Cul de Sac of Lameness." I felt like I was privy to source information that non frequent commentors aren't exposed to. Long live the sock team. can i tell the people at the next contest that im flow for the Toy Machine Semi Professional Sock Team?
Posted By: vinny on October 11th, 2010 at 11:24AM PST
Ed, you found it! haha.
Yeah, we met in Gent, I had a 5 hour ride there, I told you, pretty scratched up. You also signed a friends VHS tape of the Munster contest (you won, of course).
Good times in Gent.
Thanks for scrolling my blog!

When this site was updated, it was upgraded from the cul de sac of lameness to a Traffic Jam on the super highway. Maybe to insinuate and refer to Edward's hectic and busy-ass life.

I totally met up with grant. He gave me a wedgie while I was in the deepend of the pool pushing mongo when I had my helmet and fully padded
Posted By: Jgonzalez on October 11th, 2010 at 11:44AM PST
TRaffc jam on the super highway.I think I heard that on cable guy.I love that movie.

Dude thats crazy.Fully padded huh?ha

Oh Damn, two full Leo parts in a year. Could this put Leo over the top for SOTY? Only time will tell.
I'm bummed Matt Bennett won't have a full part as I would have liked to see a full "first pro part" from him. His recent interweb throwaway footage has been awesome. Nonetheless I am very excited for Brain Wash.
In other news I saw a gentleman at a skatepark out here in PA who looked like a perfect mash up of you and Jason Lee, as if at some point in your teenage skate rat years you two had a skate love child and dropped him off in the boonies of Pennsylvania. He had the style to back it up too.
I also realized this weekend that almost all the tricks I've been trying to teach myself recently have been Ed Templeton staples for years. Thanks for being an inspiration, and for giving me the low-down on Brain Wash.

I like that 99% of the internet is Pron.
I also like that they made a sequel to the first one and Jeff Bridges is reprising his role.
