Nuoro, Italy: Part 3 - Cala Gonone: part 1
We worked hard enough to take the weekend off, and rode the Smart Car down the mountain to Cala Gonone, a small beach town in the Orosei Gulf, or Golfo di Orosei as the Italians say it. (and oh, July 28th, today is my birthday.)
We are amongst some beautiful country here in Sardegna, and it's high season mid-July, but there are relatively few tourists, and the tourists there are are all Italian it seems. I have heard almost no english being spoken since I have been here. This was a view on our drive from Nuoro to Dorgali.
This guy saw us puling over to take a view and copied the idea, what a biter.
We found ourselves finally in Cala Gonone, and it was too windy to rent a boat, so we decided to just take a dip in the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea. For you horndog's (Jgonz...) I got some topless girl BGP's for you.
The sand was more like mini-pebbles at this beach, and we had no towel, so we just roached ourselves to get dry.
And what a treat, the grocery store had Valsoia vegan Dove bars!
Cala Gonone, overlooking the Gulfo di Orosei is a paradise, and nearly nobody was using it!
This guy had a rad reading position.

We went to the local Aquarium which had some epic modern architecture.
A lowly little cuttlefish. The Italians call it Seppia, like the ink it squirts.
Crabbage!
This was a dogfish, (a small shark) although there was no sign anywhere telling visitors this.
The view from the ceffeteria was glorious. Amazingly, there is not too much sea life here. The monk seals have dwindled away from here, and we had a hard time even seeing birds. The rocks are all free from bird-poo. We did see a few cormorants.
A Saturday evening outdoor Mass was being held in the woods behind a snack bar. Old women in traditional black dress were coming out of the woodwork, and Deanna was trying to cut them off at the pass to get a picture.

Happy birthday! I bet you're psyched to be doing something awesome with your life on your birthday. I will probably just get a sweet ice cream cake and drink a bunch of beers and go skateboarding or something before it snows.
I remember you said Brainwash was going to come out August- but then it got pushed out to October. This was after you had to endure the Zumiez demo and I met you in the parking lot. Well, my birthday is at the end of October. How awesome.
I think it's awesome they have topless beaches but I think it would totally desensitize me to boobies after awhile? I don't know. I would be worried about getting a boner as well seeing all that at the beach and what not. Leaves literally nothing, to the imagination. That's kind of sweet you got some vegan Dove bars, but I bet you were still more stoked on the strawberry gelato.

Guys,
I worked on my birthday. It was actually the most hectic work day yet. You see all the fun posts when I took the weekend off, but most days here are spent in the museum hanging the show, cleaning everything, making installations, and generally getting the show prepared to open. Today, my birthday, I painted a huge word bubble, and painted text on it, made sure all the titles were correct for the plaques that hang next to the artwork, and that is it. My neck is fucked from painting standing up on a wall all day. The show opens tomorrow, so everything has to be done today. Tomorrow is also a skate jam that I have to appear at, and skate at, even though I don't have my board, and only have slip on shoes. Thanks for the comments! Sorry for so much boobie. I thought you guys would get a kick out of it. Boobs are much more mysterious when they are covered, and helped out by flattering bras. The topless beach democratizes the boobs, and you realize that most boobs are pretty much the same, and sometimes hot girls have not-so-hot boobs and vice versa. But they are no big deal in the context of the beach, the bedroom may be a different case...
