Someone asked on a previous post how contact sheets work.

A contact sheet is called that, because your negatives are laying on the photo paper. The paper is in 'contact' with the negatives.

You lay your negs down on a piece of photo paper, and expose the paper by using the light from your enlarger. Then you process the photo paper the same way as usual.

You can fit the negs for a whole roll of film onto an 8x10 piece of paper.

When you are done, you have this easily viewable overview of what is on your roll of film, and you can choose from these tiny 'prints' which ones you want to enlarge.

If you want to know more, this book will help. I learned everything I know from it.
