The day after Deanna's show Thomas and Regina gave us a ride into Belgium, and we stopped in Antwerp for the day on the way to Gent...

Regina was rocking some sweet bright blue D&G shorts that she bought because it was too hot in what she had been wearing.

Where is your trophy wife?

Bike riding is much bigger in Europe than in the USA.

Lombardia restaurant in Antwerp, famous tea, famous vegan whipped cream, and the owner sports a Templeton/Admiral Freebee shirt - double bonus.

The same fair that was in Gent when I was setting up my show has now traveled to Antwerp, so I once again owned a few bulls eyes to impress the ladies.

Yeah, another one.

Thomas shot some too, and got the best bullseye of the day – right in the center. Why don't they have this at fairs in the USA? Lawsuits. The carnies would take an arrow through the head once a week, or some nut job would turn his bow into the crowd and let loose...

Why don't the fairs in the USA have artwork this cool painted on the rides?

Regina is addicted to insulation licking.

Deanna and Noah paint for Chris J.

Chris Johanson suggested, since he was not here for the installation of his show, that Deanna should paint the word "Energy" on the end of this long wooden sculpture, and then Christopher Garrett, Johanson's assistant invited Noah to do the other side.

Noah, age 11, uses a mix of upper and lower cases for his artwork.

Deanna was worried that she would mess it up.

This was all happening inside the glass case in front of the Schunck*

What, no tramp-stamp?

No butt-floss and butterfly tat? weak.

Deanna was successful and free of mistakes!

It was Stijn and Manon's 16th wedding anniversary and we went with the family to eat Italian. Noah, has kept a photo of Kevin Barnett on his iPhone, he's a fan.

Then then out of nowhere some music started - so loud it was like a band started playing inside the restaurant - and a waitress brought out a dessert with a live firwork going on it. Fuck a candle.

New York - Heerlen, Netherlands

In one day without sleep we were in Times Square and the ICP – took a sleepless overnight flight to London, then took the Channel Tunnel over to Brussels, where we were picked up for a 1.5 hour drive to Holland and eating dinner in Heerlen by 7:30.

Roasted Corn, street fair style, on a shut down 6th ave in New York.

Catalina in May - and Europe too

Somehow, in between all this travel and work, I was able to steal off to Catalina in the short time I was home.

Deanna and I leave tomorrow for New York, where I will be setting up my part of an exhibition of my photography at the ICP. Then off to Holland where Deanna has her 3rd solo museum show of her photographs at the Schunck Glaspaleis. We're gone for a month! (so posting may again be spotty... but more colorful!)

This years rains have made the island lush and green. And this time of year means it's mostly devoid of people outside of Avalon. And outside of Avalon is where we spend most of our time, on the water, and close to the shore and critters.

Nobody but us. And the pelicans, seagulls, bald eagles, schools of fish that can barely stay under the water, and the birds that dive down to pluck them up from the surface without even getting wet. The harbor seals and sea lions, and the leopard sharks. The garibaldi, opal-eye, and calico bass. And although we didn't see them this time, the rays, both sting and bat, and the dolphins.

Ready for adventure in a kelp filled cove near Long Point. Long Point is the furthest point to the right on this photo. In the middle of the island.

There were too many to count. Literally hundreds. They are skittish little guys, so it was hard to get one in your frame right under the boat! With the naked eye, you can see the shore just filled witht them.

Oh yeah, the other day we went to see our freind Jim Goldberg speak at the Hammer museum. If you don't have his books, you should check them out. Some of the hard to get ones will be re-issued soon, so you can get them for cheaper than the OG ones. Keep an eye out!

Dennis, my "photo assistant" and longtime homie (and OG skate photographer too) couldn't make the Goldberg talk because he was filming porn stars playing Dungeons and Dragons for a web-cast. Could I make that up? You can see Dennis blog in the links below, but he has an "Explicit" blog too. (Click here but be warned, plenty of nudity and debauchery.)
