The Seconds Pass like Hands thru Glass

Anyone knows where that line comes from and I'll give you props.
Working on a book of photos shot from a moving car... god knows I've been in one enough.
Some of these are in and some are not. But I feel guilty for not posting.

A long time ago.

Hazze Lindgren, a pro skater (in the freestyle genre) for Schmitt Stix back in the day shot this photo of me and Jeremy Ramey in Jeremy's room. Jeremy was strictly freestyle. I used to freestyle when I wasn't street skating...
I see freestyle CASL contest trophies, a series of freestyle photos ripped from magazines on his wall along with Vision paraphernalia. A Thrasher cover with a freestyler on it? On the right, next to the G&S banner is a photo of Don Brown, now vice president over at Sole-Tech. As for me, I have a complete Vision Skateboards outfit on, A Vision "Blur" shirt, (Vision Blurs were wheels) and Vision shorts. (that were probably fluorescent orange.) And of course the obligatory skater bangs from that era, 1987, 88. I don't even remember ever being in Jeremy's room.

Christmas 2009

Twas a good year.
Since the HB park got bulldozed I have no place to do my annual "Tempster Christmas Give-Away." I wanted to keep it fairly local, so I went over to the Murdy skatepark in HB (aka "the Ashtray") and not a single kid was there. So I went to the next closest skatepark, the Costa Mesa skatepark by the fairgrounds. I had never been to it, ever! I put on my santa cap and gave away some of the excess stuff I collected over the last year. 5 or 6 pairs of Thunder Trucks, A slew of Ricta wheels both new and old. (I wonder if the youngins will enjoy totally yellowed 5 year old 60mm Rune Glifberg wheels?) Plus a bunch of Emerica, and RVCA shirts, Shoes, and a Toy Machine board with some grip.
Spent Christmas Eve with Deanna's family, young Sophia here with the TB sock.
Christmas colors cloak Kevin in crimson and kelley green... Still working, even through Christmas!

Merry Christmas to All...

And Happy Holidays to the rest.
The other day in Home Depot I said Happy Holidays to a guy and he snapped back Merry CHRISTMAS! And I thought, well there's a christian dude who thinks there's a war on Christmas. I happened by accident upon an Active Christmas party that was next to a vegan restaurant I go to. Didn't even know it was happening! So I went in and got a free holiday photo. Hope you all get what you want, and stay off the naughty list this coming year. (The naughty list is jail when you grow up.)

Christmas Eve 2009

And all through the house. Some dusty old photos set to Bauhaus.

Trees. Chop, buy, decorate, enjoy, trash.

Merry Christmas Eve to the Loyal Pawns, the Frequent Commenters, The unwashed masses who never comment, and any combination of the three. To the Hardcore skaters who buy truly deserving brands, (subject of great debate, not assuming you would decide Toy Machine is or isn't)  and even to the mall kids who at the very least decided they like skateboarding better than football, there is a glimmer of hope for you, the door has not shut. Merry Christmas!

A Pre-X-Mas Eve Selection...

...Of Random Photos. Some recent, some old. None too epic.
Does that say Happy Holidays? Nope.
Nothing says Happy Holidays like this kids' ass.

Verticals from the car...

What else do you have this Saturday? Not much if you are here.
Even while in a moving car you can still lurk on people.
LA is a good place for people watching from the car.
There's always something going on.
I was gonna put up photos of Deanna baking cookies in a fishnet body stocking but decided you'd rather see these.

Continued Detritus...

I will be at a RVCA signing today at a PacSun store in the Block of Orange.
Homer vs. Deanna.
Don't look at my glass boobies.
I doubt it.
We are basically 97% anti-Christmas this year, no tree yet. Just a few lights outside that don't work too well. A sorry state indeed. I rely on Deanna christmas spirit to get our house in the mood.

Yesterday's Testosterone

Got up and out and forgot to update the blog. But I had to go shoot Leo for some RVCA stuff...
...And ended up shooting guns at paper. As you can see, the Tempster didn't kill his innocent hostage and nailed the perp with a multitude of head-kills. This is my first experience with guns since summer camp as a youth, where I shot a 22 rifle. This time it was a 357 Magnum, and a 40 caliber rifle. It doesn't change how I feel about guns at all. (They are lame. Fun to shoot, yes, but as you can see by our "paper" they are used mostly for killing people.)
Leo's house had all sorts of sweet things to look at.
(not my book, but the... you know.)
What Mexican houshold is complete without it?

One that got away form being in the Seconds Pass...
I'm not sure if Dennis or Deanna shot this. I'm working on my show, huge prints from a polaroid 665 neg, that I paint on. This is the spray-paint phase.

A Saturday Post for my regulars...

My family Christmas is today, I'm up in the mountains, maybe in snow?
The Beatle Shits.
Die Beatles.
Dr. Death has his own storefront in Paris.
People lock their love up on the Pont des Artes (Bridge of Art) in Paris. How romantic. But the bridge is filled with gypsy women to pretend to pick up a ring while walking next to you, and try to give it to you and then end up asking you for money. If they give it to you, throw it in the river, and punch them in the throat. (that is what I wish I had done.)
In Paris we met the collector who bought the painting I did of Deanna for my show in LA. It was pretty cool to see the painting again, and in its new home.

Some photographs from London

Tourist London. The only language I heard people speak was Russian.
London was littered with puddles.
Kids loved to splash in them. Sometimes and gruff old man, busy busy, would walk into the puddle without looking, and 3 steps in realize that it was pretty deep and he was screwed. It was a tragic thing to watch, and yet, we watched it happen three times in the short while we stood puddle watching. One guy reversed course, still ruined. Another too embarrassed to turn around, just went through. Soaked up the the ankles. What a miserable rest of the day he must have had.
The puddle was by the carousel on the Queens Walk along the river Thames.
This was in a shop window in chinatown. I shot a better one with my digi-cam.
Although it was freezing balls out, there was a fashion shoot going on with scantily clad young girls covered in goose-flesh.
People dropped coins to a sheet for a guy making a sand sculpture.

Dolls in boxes, Liege, Belgium

We went to a flea market, and there was an inordiante amount of dolls in boxes.
"Blessed be Providence which has given to each his toy: the doll to the child, the child to the woman, the woman to the man, the man to the devil!" –Victor Hugo
Near a box...
"Little girls love dolls. They just don't love doll clothes. We've got four thousand dolls and ain't one of them got a stitch of clothes on." –Jeff Foxworthy
"I enjoy getting dressed as a Barbie doll." –Vanna Whit
"There's nobody else that can double me - except for a doll." –Verne Troyer
"We say that a girl with her doll anticipates the mother. It is more true, perhaps, that most mothers are still but children with playthings." –F. H. Bradley

Deanna was there too.

Lurking in London

There was a bite in the air, and wetness all around.
Lit by the advertising of Picadilly Circus.
The longing never stops.
Why leave now?
Something to look at near the river Thames.
I sense someone recording my countenance...
In the security of this bus, I am invincible.

Priest: "No, not if you did not know."
Eskimo: "Then why did you tell me?

"It's like gambling somehow. You go out for a night of drinking and you don't know where your going to end up the next day. It could work out good or it could be disastrous. It's like the throw of the dice." –Jim Morrison
"Education in this country is about how to maintain the status quo and to perpetuate racism." –Jane Elliot
"Everybody's scared for their ass. There aren't too many people ready to die for racism. They'll kill for racism but they won't die for racism." –Florynce R. Kennedy
