Live From Deutschland (Germany)

Berlin is one freaking awesome city. We can't beleive how awesome it is actually. So much history, art and vegan food! This is the Brandenburg Gate, right near the Reichstag

Deanna had to go get her broken arm checked out. We were hoping to get her pins out, but the German doctors determined that they should stay in for another two weeks. That is a super-bummer for Deanna.
They tweaked her arm and made her cry.

We have been cruising around like the full-blown tourists we are.
Berlin is filled with little surprises around every corner.

So much crazy architecture! Our friend Stewie would cream himself. The bombing of World War II, and the Berlin Wall/Cold War left a lot of extra space to play with, and they brought the best architects out to get gnarly.

This was the night Deanna got her new German cast and she was not amused.

This photo is for Stacy. She seems to like when people take the extra time to make the food into art. This was a Tomato-coconut cream soup from La Mano Verde, a fancy vegan restaurant. We really loved the food and the people at Hans-Wurst vegan cafe too. And they stay open late!

This is the sweet Akiko who works at Motto Bookstore, the best place to go to find rare small-edition artists' books and zines...

We went to Motto Books on the night of an opening, so there were tons of people enjoying some printed matter.

We went to visit the Pergamon Museum, and were blown away by the HUGE things that German archaeologists brought back from ancient lands back in the day.

Deanna was really excited because she saw this on Samantha Brown's Passport to Europe show.

Aphrodite

We went to the Gemaldegallerie (picture gallery) where we studied intensely the very old religious artwork.
"Wash my feet with your hair woman!" The disciples are like, "Damn!"

Chopping heads off of sleeping people was totally cool back then.

After getting out of the fountain of youth this recently old and haggard woman but now young and hot young girl goes into the tent to get some new clothes.

The tank at our hotel was getting cleaned by a guy with a sponge.

We sadly left Berlin and took a train ride to Dusseldorf. It was quite beautiful when we arrived!

We were walking down the street and were surprised to see a huge poster for Deanna's upcoming show!

And we shot photos at every one we saw after that!

Rather indulgent travel post...

Mostly for our pals back home, but you can peek in too.

Belgium was cold for us wimpy Californians, but Amsterdam got cold enough to wear the fuzzy cap Deanna bought me so my little ears won't get cold.

The wind was bitter and biting through our clothes, but some girls still had skirts on. We really are spoiled in So-Cal.

Last night in Amsterdam looking for Vegan food. You would think it would be easy in Amsterdam, but it is not so hot.

Our train ride to Berlin. I have been heavily neglecting the digi-cam so far, but today I made an effort to get some shots for the web.

We rolled into Berlin after a 6 hour ride from Amsterdam. Deanna was not too stoked to see it snowing!

Leave it to Deanna to book us some fancy-ass hotel.
We walked in and there was a 6 story fish-tank in the middle of it.

It was 28 degrees today / tonight, The coldest of our trip so far. Deanna was not built for cold, and she had to go 'Ninja' to feel even slightly warm.

We even had to put a glove over her "Claw" and over her cast like a rubber.

We went in to the big church "Berliner Dom" with it's massive dome inside...

So just for Stacy and Lindsay, we have shot photos of our food. We ate at a place called Hans-Wurst, an All-Vegan restaurant. Deanna got a Tempeh, onion, and mushroom tart with a rocket salad. It was very tasty. The bread was foccacia style.

I got Veggie medallions with spicy sweet pepper sauce and guacamole rice. Also very good. We forgot to shoot our soup, Minestrone, with beans and pasta in it. So good.

Deanna and I agree, this is the best cake we have ever had in Europe.
That is saying alot for us road weary vegans...

On the way home we came across some female pinocchio dolls. How pornographic.

Off on the rest of our travels now...

The day after the opening I did a book signing for Deformer at Copyright Bookstore in Antwerp. They deal in only Art, Architecture and photography books. Very good selection.
