The day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, and the day after...
Went to Laguna to eat the day before. Got up sorta late, so it was more like dinner.
You could see Catalina...
A beautiful day.
On Thanksgiving, Sophia and her cousins were raging all day, and using me as a human jungle-gym.
I was sore the next day.
The day after we went on an art-fest. Saw the Wolfgang Tillmans show at Regen Projects.
Whatever you were doing, you should have been at the
Map of the Inner War... Yeah, I said it.
Then to the LACMA, where I shot almost no photos. Sorry.
Horse-fight.

Happy Thanksgiving. Lets give thanks for the possible future we have with a new government, and that we are alive.
I can eat a Tofurkey to that.
Much
more to come very soon, enjoy your day...

I shot a series of details from the Map of the Inner War exhibition that I will posting over the next several days...
All the details in this post are from the Portrait of Deanna near bookshelf painting...
That is Deanna and Lindsay gossiping under it.

I was mostly frazzled all day, this is the bare bones of what I was able to shoot.
I woke up excited and got all gussied up in some nice jacket Deanna had got for me a while back.
When I opened my front door to drive up to LA this is what I saw. Fires had erupted not far from my house and a black wall of smoke was slouching towards the ocean...
The smoke was a dark grey orange. I hope Billy Marks is OK out there in Corona!
We started off with a book signing, That is
Matt Leines signing his
new book there next to me. And that is loveley Betsy from the gallery selling books like hotcakes.
A closer view of Matt Leines at work signing his book...
And this is May who was working at the gallery modeling the Templeton RVCA shirt made just for the exhibition. Sweet times.
This is Dave. His wife just had a baby, and he was awesome enough to drive up to see the show!
He works with my picture framer Dick McCoy, and basically framed all of the 250 photos and drawings on the walls... The dude is epic.
This is
Dave Naz and his signifigant other
Oriana sandwiching Deanna and me...
Then
Neil Patrick Harris showed up with his handsome boyfreind
David Burtka and couldn't stop talking about Deanna's vagina.
Lets do a bad-ass one!
Mark Rodriguez was there holding the newest hot off the presses
ANP Quarterly magazine.
Natas Kaupas showed up! Whoa!
Brendan had a mini meltdown over him, it was super sweet.
A random shot of the opening as it was starting to wind down a bit.
Hunter Burgan became a collector!
Stacy M took some photos for me...
The place was packed!
Some views of the evening...
A close up...
A close up of one of the big heads...
Amber, Allison, and Janean were all smiles.
A view askew.
The crowd was a rowdy mix. Both art-damaged weirdos and skater-kids. I loved it.
This man wasn't satisfied with the nudity on the walls, he was scoping out the young ladies...
Afterward, we ducked out to a local restaurant and got some (vegan) dessert. Look how stoked I am!
Salty chocolate torte with soy-milk foam. So good. The waiter thought it was my birthday and kept saying happy birthday to me, I just said, "Thanks!"
It was an amazing night. Thanks to all who came, and to all the well wishers. I appreciate it so much.
Thanks to Deanna and all the wonderful people at
Roberts and Tilton. Support the arts! Go see shows!

Like I said, there was a power outage, so I started off just working on these wooden heads, then got a call from
Larry Clark saying he was bringing some kids to skate the RVCA ramp. So I went by to pay a visit, and give him a copy of Deformer. Dude is legendary.

Less than a week to go before I start installing the show!!!!!!!!! I'm freaking out.

Deanna was
so happy that Obama became president elect-! You can buy her new book at
Busy-Being.com now-!

I was glad that for the first time in 8 years my vote worked. You gotta keep trying.
Jean Claude Van Damme would never stop trying. Why would I reference that dude? It's not like he makes movies anymore...
Or Does He? And man what should we name it. 'Name it ME.'
Hey, now is a great time to

Today was some scheduled power outage, so I didn't turn on my computer until late at night.

That is why I didn't post today. But you know, not using a computer today was amazing. I got tons of work done. I'm gonna start trying to not use a computer a couple days a week.

First things first, I got up and voted.

Then went over to Mothers to have breakfast with Geoff, Ewan, and Deanna. Geoff was into Deanna's 'I Voted' sticker. He can't vote because he's not a US citizen.

Then I inspected Geoff's car and found a DIO cd amongst the trash...

And a bag of HB skatepark wall as a souvenir...

Then he got interested in his own car and started to shoot it.
Maybe he will blog it later.

I left the demo on Halloween and drove straight to Disneyland, (that Corporate Mega-Behemoth I have fond childhood memories of...) Where we met up with Kevin and Laura, who are both heavy Disneyland aficionados. On the way we stopped at a coffee shop where I shaved my stash off because it made me feel creepy.
After the fireworks went off all the moms and their little kids thinned out and we were able to run around getting on all the rides with minimal lines. Since I think I
broke a rib I was hoping that the rides were not gonna hurt. Mostly they didn't. but Indiana Jones did. That one was bitter sweet. It was literally one minute before the park closed and we ran onto it with no line!
We got a last minute Pirates of the Caribbean in too!
Earlier we were trying to find vegan food in Tomorrowland and suddenly the rock band that was playing started doing a Quiet Riot / Twisted Sister mish-mash song. You can see the look on Laura's face that some serious rocking is about to go down.
Kevin proceeded to administer a face-melting air-guitar solo...
While Laura danced along, much to the delight of Deanna and me.
For Splash Mountain, Deanna came prepared with a poncho. It is her favorite ride.
This was our photo. I did my usual 'pondering something heavy while riding a log-ride' face. Everyone else was
loving it!
Our Space Mountain shot is much different, Deanna is in complete terror, and I blinked! See the guy with a Mr. Happy shirt in the front row and his wife? They were behind us in line and got into a serious marital dispute. They were yelling and fighting with each other and cussing. It got pretty brutal. They were English. And he kept saying, 'Why are you having a go at me?' I know the 45 minute wait to get on can be a bitch, but you would think that their worries would have melted away once they sat down on the coaster. But they obviously hated every second of it. When we looked at the photos posted on the wall after the ride, Laura pointed at the guy looking pissed with a Mr. Happy shirt on and was cracking up, then turned around and there he was watching us have a laugh at his expense. Yikes!

So this is part 1 of the Halloween Mega-Thon as seen through Ed Templeton's eyes (and camera)
There will surely be more photos coming soon from Kevin Barnett and Mike Sinclair...

Darth Vader showed up and started light-sabering kid's heads off. If that wasn't lame enough, he then started skating the course...

But he was ripping! And even with a cape! The force is strong with this one. Who the hell is this Dark Lord?

Hell yeah! It's Billy Marks!

Nick T was channelling some David Bowie.

Grant and Rob came dressed as skate-dykes, scissor-kissing all the way up to San Dimas. It would have been great if Grant shaved his beard off, then he would have been just a do-able as Rob. I would totally tap that!

Kevin came a priest, you can tell by the look on his face what he did to little boys before the demo. Crap, I should have arrested him.

Johnny was - wait, just a mexican? Dude, we live in Southern California! Neil Heddings was just dressed as himself.

Lets do that again without the pig, and throw me some mad-dog!

Of course Active Erica was there, but I didn't take it too far like I did last time, and all you get is this innocent photo.

This was Josh from Atascadero? We met him on tour.
Remember his hand?

Matt B was a tad creeped out by my commitment to being a cop.
PHOTO KEY

Logan Kincade showed up as Albert Einstein dressed as Griffin Collins,----weird.

Einstein should be smart enough to not bend over in front of a horny Darth with a big orange light-saber schlong.
Photo Key.

I smell a gay porn film coming on...

Ed with John McCain, one old white guy that will NOT be sleeping in the white house for once...

Do you smell bacon? I think I smell bacon...

These kids drove from Mesa, Arizona just to see Toy Machine. THAT is a Loyal Pawn. Anyone reading this from Arizona who didn't drive to California to see our demo on Halloween, is officially BLOWING IT.

Kevin donned the Darth doppelganger and did due diligence in these dire days, duh.

I was gonna use my 'death-deck' but I'm glad a didn't, because I shot my board at 100 miles per hour into some poor kid's shin. He would have been fucked.

Like we always do, the team got right to
schralpage. Austin kick-flipping into a back tail down the hubba...
The first thing I did when I started skating was to eat complete shit, and I am pretty sure I
broke a rib. It was pretty hard to breathe, but since I was skating, it wasn't so bad. My cop pants did rip open and I may have flashed a ballsack at the crowd on accident, if so, I'm sorry.

Josh Harmony was all business, his costume was 'worlds nicest boy' and he was ripping.

The smoke machine was used to make our skating 'spooky'. It worked.

Matt B was getting wicked on the obstacles. Backside 180 Nosegrind anyone?

Man, Rob was looking pretty good, is he 18 yet? Marquise was there too!

Chicks dig cops, I got dibs on the bearded lady! Man he looks like some art damaged hippie who just got done doing a fire-stick twirling routine.

After the demo we signed autographs. This girl made these Toy character paintings that made mine look like crud. I was flattered. Look how creepy I am with a mustache. It magnifies the creepy I already have.
After the signing I left to go to Disneyland! That will be part 2 on
Ed's part of the site later...
